With the Fall quarter ended, I invited my Surface Design and my Upcycling students from LWTech on a little field trip to go see the show “Natural Geometries” by the Contemporary QuiltArt Association.  Eight of us made the trek into Seattle to the Washington State Convention Center this week.

With some of my students and my art quilt “Yakima River Canyon” at the “Natural Geometries” show.

The show, located in the Level 2 main gallery, is beautifully displayed in the Contemporary QuiltArt Association‘s plexiglass cases.  Such a broad selection of interpretation for the Natural Geometries theme!  We toured the gallery, discussing design elements and techniques used in different pieces.

My piece, “Yakima River Canyon”, based on a photo I took, is hand dyed and painted, hand-pieced, and hand embroidered.  I made it specifically for this exhibit.
