With the Fall quarter ended, I invited my Surface Design and my Upcycling students from LWTech on a little field trip to go see the show “Natural Geometries” by the Contemporary QuiltArt Association. Eight of us made the trek into Seattle to the Washington State Convention Center this week.
The show, located in the Level 2 main gallery, is beautifully displayed in the Contemporary QuiltArt Association‘s plexiglass cases. Such a broad selection of interpretation for the Natural Geometries theme! We toured the gallery, discussing design elements and techniques used in different pieces.
My piece, “Yakima River Canyon”, based on a photo I took, is hand dyed and painted, hand-pieced, and hand embroidered. I made it specifically for this exhibit.
The show will be up at the Convention Center through January 5, 2020, so if you’re in downtown Seattle for a little holiday shopping or want to get an inspirational lift, stop by! Here are a few of the other fabulous pieces on display.
