Scuba diving in the bull kelp forest in Monterrey California inspired this vessel, designed with bull kelp stipes and blades gently meandering up the sides.
Materials and Techniques: Made from Abaya leaf paper pulp, this vessel was designed with bull kelp stipes and blades gently meandering up and around the sides. The forms were carved out and filled with the pulp and left to dry. Finishing includes 12 layers of acrylic and oil paint, then stitched with wire and a wood base to give more substance.
