Rhinoceros Auklet by Christina Fairley Erickson

I photographed this rhinoceros auklet while on a photo voyage out of Seward, Alaska. I love the tufts of feathers which look like bushy eyebrows.

Materials and Techniques: Artist’s original photo printed on cotton, layers of tulle and hand-dyed nylon organza, freehand machine embroidery.
