Original Design Hand Embroidery

©2014 Christina Fairley Erickson

The study of Indian embroidery, particularly Kantha embroidery, is part of the curriculum of Level 2- Experimental Hand Embroidery at the Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts which I completed in 2014. I designed this pheasant using Kantha (Running) stitches for my husband.  The running stitch, although simple, can be stitched in patterns, to create complex designs.

Materials and Techniques: Hand dyed linen backing; cotton and rayon embroidery thread; hand stitched.

Size:  15″w x 13″ h x 1.25 d
